The Spokane Home Builders Association is thrilled to announce the success of our recent Frame Your Future (FYF) Construction Camp for high school juniors and seniors. Over the course of several hours, a group of enthusiastic and dedicated students gathered to learn the trades and build five garden sheds from the ground up.
The camp provided students with hands-on experience in various aspects of construction, from framing and roofing to siding and finishing. Each student had the opportunity to learn alongside industry professionals, learning valuable skills and gaining real world experience in the process.
The students were divided into five teams, each responsible for building their own garden shed. With the guidance of experienced builders, the teams worked together to measure, cut and assemble the components of their sheds. The sense of camaraderie and teamwork was palpable as the students cheered each other on and offered support and encouragement throughout the building process.
In addition to the hands-on building experience, the camp also included educational value on the importance of safety on the job site, the various career paths available in the trades, and the latest tools and technologies being used in the field.
The camp was a resounding success, with all five garden sheds completed on time and to a high standard of quality. The students left the camp with new skills, new partnerships, and a newfound appreciation for the trades.
We are proud to have provided this opportunity for high school students to explore the construction industry and gain hands-on experience. We believe that by investing in the next generation of builders, we are building a stronger and more vibrant community for all.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the industry professionals who volunteered their time and expertise to make this camp a success, as well as the sponsors who helped fund this amazing event. Your commitment to the future of the construction industry is truly inspiring.
We are already looking forward to next year’s Construction Camp and can't wait to see what the future holds for these talented and dedicated young builders.
